Not only am I a teacher of writing, but I am also a student of writing. I love to write. Extensively. I hope to one day write a great American novel. Until then, though, I practice with poetry and short fiction. I often write more loosely-structured reflections on the things that keep me up at night. I had intentions of studying creative writing at the graduate level, but life had other plans for me. Instead of formal study, I do my best to find time to read the works of both classic and popular authors and analyze my own compositions based on the styles of these writers. Here are some of my works that I consider worth sharing:
Narratives
"Damn the Backpack!"
"An Ice-cold Drink of Water"
Poetry
"Melancholy"
Essays
"Breaking Fate: A Personal Essay"
Reflections
"The Roadkill Metaphor"
"The Last Kiss"
"A Letter to My Teen Leadership Class"
